Nobels Khaki Green No.3/ G3 & Dark Green9pts XF62 + 3pts XF59 + 1 pt XF68
This colour was the new basic colour from mid-1939 till phased out in 1941. Also
may be used as the alternative colour in lieu of Slate 34 in Caunter scheme.
The result is slightly less rich than a sample matched to original colour on a
motorcycle part and slightly les brown than on a steel helmet in original colour, a
good average.
Tamiya mix : SCC No.7 green 1pt XF62 + 1pt XF67 + 1pt XF3, a touch more XF3 is not bad
An obscure colour used from August 1941 on vehicles till phased out within a
year. Produced as a bituminious emulsion for use as the basic colour on vehicle
canvases because the enamel paint rotted the fabric. Tilts at this time were either
natural colour or dyed khaki green. The bodywork remained Khaki Green 3 and
Dark Green or Dark Tarmac 4 in the striped patterning. So you can have four
coloured camo. on your 1941-42 trucks in UK.
The colour was used on softskins, penthouses and tents where the basic vehicle
colour was green, i.e. NWE in 1944-45.
Tamiya mix : BS.24 Deep Bronze Green 8pts XF5 + 5pts XF62
This was the standard pre-war basic colour from 1934 till replaced by Khaki
Green 3 in 1949. It was usually highly polished and took on a near black
appearance as may be seen seen in contemporary photographs. Some vehicles in
the BEF still had the colour, either overall or as the disrupter with Khaki Green 3.
You will need to aply satin varnish over this to achieve to correct appearance.
Tamiya mix : SCC No.15 Olive Drab5pts XF61 + 2pts XF62 + 2pts XF3
This is the colour that replaced SCC 2 brown as the basic colour from April 1944
on in NWE and Italy. This is a little darker than the standard so a wee touch more
XF3 would be OK.
Tamiya mix : Dark Tarmac No.4 1prt XF24 + 1prt XF69
This is the colour that replaced Dark Green G4 in spring or summer 1941. Initially
applied as stripes as per MTP20 then later as per MTP46/4A. Replaced in turn by
SCC 1A and then SCC 14 black.
